Pongalur Palanisamy, a resident of Singanallur, Coimbatore, and a former DMK minister, served during the 2006-2011 period. The Anti-Corruption Police registered a case against him, alleging that he had accumulated assets worth ₹44 lakhs disproportionate to his known income during his tenure.
The case was being heard at the Coimbatore Principal Sessions Court. After arguments from both sides concluded, the High Court ordered the case to be transferred to the Coimbatore Chief Subordinate Court for final hearings.
Following this, the case documents were transferred to the specified court, and the hearing resumed on January 20. Advocate Arulmozhi appeared on behalf of Palanisamy during the session.
Judge Kalaivani adjourned the case to February 3 and ordered Shanmugapriya, the then-investigation officer, to appear in court and provide testimony.
