Today, (January 22, 2025), the District Monitoring Officer and Director of the Scheduled Tribes Welfare Department, Mr. Anand, visited various ongoing development projects in the Coimbatore City Municipal area. He conducted an inspection in the presence of Coimbatore Municipal Commissioner, Mr. M. Sivaguru Prabhakaran.
Under the guidance of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, several developmental projects are being implemented across Coimbatore, aimed at benefiting the public. Mr. Anand reviewed projects including the construction of the Father Periyar Library and Science Centre in Gandhipuram-Anupparapalayam, with an estimated cost of ₹300 crores. He also examined the construction of the Tamil Language Park in the Central Jail Complex at Gandhipuram, which is being built at ₹167.25 crores.
Other inspected projects include the ₹30 crores modernization of the Gandhipuram Central Bus Stand, the Omni Bus Stand being built at ₹2.95 crores near the same location, and a ₹5.27 crore waste management center being renovated in the Sathi Road area. Additionally, a ₹1.6 crore overnight shelter for the underprivileged is being built in Mullai Nagar under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission.
Mr. Anand also reviewed several ongoing projects related to sewage systems and public amenities, urging officials to expedite the completion of these important developments.
The inspection was attended by Assistant Commissioner (Training) Mr. Angeeth Kumar Jain, Deputy Commissioner Mrs. A. Sultana, Chief Engineer (Public Works) Mr. Murugesan, Municipal Officers, Councilors, and other government officials.
