On January 26, the 76th Republic Day was celebrated at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore, in front of the Adiyogi statue. In a press release, Sadhguru spoke about Bharat’s cultural uniqueness, stating, “The unity in diversity of Bharat is not ordinary. This is the future of the world.”
During his address, Sadhguru said, “In this nation, people have never been overly concerned about who rules or holds power. The people themselves have always been in charge. India has always been a democratic land where the culture and civilization remain unchanged regardless of leadership. This is a defining and unique aspect of this nation.”
He further remarked, “Culturally, those seeking a spiritual path have always looked to the East, which means India. At one point, 30% of India’s population was dedicated to inner pursuits on the spiritual path. This is still evident today at events like the Kumbh Mela, where massive numbers of people come together solely for inner exploration, a rare phenomenon in today’s world.”
Explaining why India is often referred to as Hindu, Sadhguru said, “In the north, we have the Himalayas, and in the south, the Indian Ocean, historically called the Hindu Sagar. Together, the land was referred to as Hindu, and thus, its people became Hindus.”
He highlighted Bharat’s unparalleled cultural diversity, saying, “In a single family, there could be ten gods worshipped by five members. These differences have never caused discord. The world is learning from us. Bharat’s unity in diversity will be the future of the world. In many ways, India is leading the way globally.”
The event was attended by a special guest delegation from the Sulur Air Force Base. Thousands of ashram residents, volunteers, local tribal communities, and villagers also participated in the celebrations.
