Coimbatore South MLA Vanathi Srinivasan extended her congratulations to this year’s Padma awardees through a Facebook post on January 26. She acknowledged the recipients of the prestigious awards, including the ‘Padma Vibhushan,’ ‘Padma Bhushan,’ and ‘Padma Shri,’ announced by the central government. Seven individuals were honored with the ‘Padma Vibhushan,’ 19 with the ‘Padma Bhushan,’ and 113 with the ‘Padma Shri.’ All the awardees were commended for their contributions to their respective fields, bringing pride to the nation.
From Tamil Nadu, prominent recipients include industrialist Nalli Kuppusami Chetti, actor Ajith Kumar, and Bharatanatyam artist Shobana, who were awarded the ‘Padma Bhushan.’
‘Padma Shri’ awardees from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry include Dinamalar’s associate editor Lakshmipathi Ramasubbu, cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, artists Velu Asan and Guruvayur Dorai, culinary expert K. Damodaran, scientist M.T. Srinivas (Architecture), Purasai Kannappa Sambandhan (Art), Radhakrishnan Devasenadhipathi (Art), writer Srini Viswanathan (Literature – Education), and P. Dakshinamurthy from Puducherry.
Vanathi Srinivasan expressed her heartfelt wishes to all awardees and extended her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing achievers who contribute to India’s progress and pride.
