Defence Career Expo Showcases AI in Warfare and Career Opportunities

The fifth edition of the Defence Career Expo, organized by Kumaraguru Institutions as part of Yugam 2025, provided aspiring candidates with insights into careers in the armed forces and the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern warfare. The two-day event attracted 550 NCC cadets from 25 colleges across Tamil Nadu.

The primary objective of the expo was to inspire young minds to consider a career in the defence sector. Colonel CST Swamy discussed how AI-powered surveillance, drone warfare, and cybersecurity are transforming national security. He explained how AI enhances border monitoring by identifying threats in real-time and how AI-enabled drone swarms can execute strategic attacks with precision.

Commodore B. Balasundaram, Director of the Centre for Indigenisation and Self-Reliance (CISR) – Indian Navy, inaugurated the event and spoke about India’s efforts to boost self-reliance in defence manufacturing. Sessions also covered Service Selection Board (SSB) interview preparation, one of the toughest selection processes in the country.

The expo featured interactive sessions with senior officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Attendees also explored a military weapons display by INS Agrani, 35 Field Regiment, and the Madras Regimental Centre, along with military band performances.

Rear Admiral V. Mohandoss emphasized that since its inception, the Defence Career Expo has raised awareness among more than 10,000 NCC cadets. The event continues to serve as a platform for students to explore career opportunities in the defence sector.
