CITU Transport Workers Arrested After Protest at Thiruvalluvar Bus Stand, Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, more than 100 members of the CITU Transport Workers Union were arrested today (January 22) after staging a protest in front of the Thiruvalluvar bus stand in Gandhipuram, demanding various rights and benefits.

The protest was part of a state-wide demonstration organized by the CITU Transport Workers Union, calling for the implementation of several demands, including DA benefits, the restoration of the old pension scheme, an increase in gratuity for retirees, and the introduction of medical insurance for workers.

The workers staged a roadblock, criticizing the DMK government and raising slogans in support of their demands. As the protest caused traffic disruptions, the police intervened and arrested the protestors.
