To mark the nation’s 76th Republic Day, Coimbatore District Collector Kranti Kumar Pati hoisted the national flag at the VOC Ground on January 26.
The event began with the release of tricolor balloons, followed by white doves symbolizing peace. The Collector then inspected and received a guard of honor from the police forces. Parade leaders were introduced during the ceremony.
Special recognition was given to freedom fighters and their families. Additionally, certificates of appreciation were awarded to 142 government officials and 45 police personnel for their exceptional service. Medals were presented to 61 city police officers and 34 district police officers.
The event also saw the participation of District Police Superintendent Karthikeyan, DIG of Coimbatore Range, and others. Various cultural performances were showcased by students from schools and colleges.
