The Coimbatore Traffic Police are implementing various measures to reduce fatalities caused by road accidents in the city.
A significant number of fatalities occur due to head injuries, emphasizing the importance of wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers. Along with awareness campaigns, traffic police have been enforcing fines on those who fail to wear helmets.
To encourage compliance, the traffic police have introduced a unique reward system. Riders and pillion riders wearing helmets while traveling on two-wheelers were given 1 liter of petrol as a token of appreciation.
On January 22, the Race Course Traffic Regulation Unit conducted an inspection near the Avinashi Road MGR statue. During this drive, they distributed petrol coupons for 1 liter to helmet-wearing riders and their pillion passengers. A total of 50 riders benefited from this initiative.
