The organs of a school principal from Coimbatore, who was declared brain dead after a two-wheeler accident, were donated to five individuals.
Senthilkumar, a resident of Sakthi Garden, Nallur, in Pollachi Taluk, Coimbatore, worked as a headmaster in a government school. His wife is also employed as a deputy headmistress in a government school.
On the evening of January 24, Senthilkumar met with a severe accident when his two-wheeler collided with another two-wheeler. He sustained critical injuries and was immediately rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital by bystanders. Despite intensive medical care, he passed away yesterday.
Following his passing, Senthilkumar’s family agreed to donate his organs. Under the guidance of the Tamil Nadu Organ Transplant Authority, the organs were harvested today (January 27).
His liver was donated to a private hospital in Coimbatore, one kidney and his eyes were donated to the Coimbatore Government Hospital, while the other kidney was sent to Salem Government Hospital.
After the organ donation, the college principal, doctors, and medical staff paid floral tributes to Senthilkumar. His body was then sent to his native village for final rites.
