Coimbatore Railway Station has launched a video competition to encourage public engagement with the UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System) app. Participants can submit their videos within a month, showcasing the app’s features and benefits in any language.
According to Station Manager Sachin Kumar, two winners will be selected and awarded a cash prize of ₹10,000 each along with certificates. One winner will be chosen based on creativity and content, while the other will be determined by the maximum number of likes on their video. Deputy Station Manager Sathish Sahadev emphasized that this initiative aims to maximize awareness and boost UTS app usage among passengers.
“The UTS app offers a user-friendly interface compared to IRCTC and supports multiple payment options for seamless ticket booking,” he added.
Currently, UTS app bookings at Coimbatore Junction are significantly lower than in Palakkad and Madurai. Smaller stations like Mettupalayam and Coimbatore North report 15.6% and 7.4% of bookings via the app, respectively. Authorities believe increasing app adoption will help migrant passengers and reduce last-minute ticket rush at the station.
