Zakir Hussain, a life sentence convict who had escaped after being released from Chennai Puzhal Prison, was arrested by the Sulur police.
Zakir Hussain, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for offenses including POCSO, had been granted parole citing his mother’s health condition. However, he disappeared after signing at the police station as per the court’s directive.
He had only visited the Sulur police station for three days six months ago to sign and went missing thereafter. The Sulur police had been searching for him intensively for the past six months. On January 21, 2025, they apprehended him in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore. He was then produced in the Sulur Criminal Court and remanded to jail.
