Lone Elephant Threatens Drivers in Azhiyar Area – Forest Officials Issue Warning

Elephant activity has significantly increased in the Azhiyar region along the Valparai-Pollachi road in recent times. Herds of elephants have started migrating from the Navamalai forest area near the Azhiyar plains.

These elephants frequently gather on the Valparai-Pollachi road, particularly at night, blocking traffic and refusing to move. On some occasions, they chase vehicles, creating a sense of fear among drivers.

Recently, a lone elephant has been sighted near the road even during the daytime, aggressively chasing vehicles passing through the area. This has left drivers anxious while traveling on this stretch.

As the lone elephant continues to linger in the area, forest officials have set up a camp nearby to ensure safety and monitor the situation. On January 22, the forest department issued a warning, advising travelers on the Valparai-Pollachi road, especially in the Azhiyar region, to proceed with caution.
