A 29-year-old man, Deenadhayalan, was arrested by Peelamedu police for attempting to rob a TASMAC employee at a bus stop near Settipalayam Road, Peelamedu, on January 19.
The accused, identified as Deenadhayalan, hails from Vellalur Muniyappan Koil Street. He threatened Thirumalai, a 54-year-old employee working at a TASMAC liquor store in the Konnayikalpallayam area, with a knife, attempting to steal money from him at the bus stop.
Thirumalai raised an alarm, attracting the attention of nearby residents, which prompted the suspect to flee the scene.
Following the complaint, Peelamedu police registered a case and initiated an investigation. The police later tracked down and arrested Deenadhayalan.
