In view of Thaipoosam, a vehicle ban will be enforced on the mountain path leading to Maruthamalai Subramaniya Swamy Temple from February 9 to 12. This restriction applies to both two-wheeler and four-wheeler vehicles.
According to a press release issued by District Collector Kranti Kumar Padi on January 28, the Thaipoosam festival at Maruthamalai Subramaniya Swamy Temple will be celebrated with grandeur from February 4 to 14.
As part of the festival, various rituals and events will be held: the flag hoisting ceremony will take place on February 5 from 6 AM to 7 AM, the celestial marriage will be held on February 10 from 12:10 PM to 12:30 PM, the Thaipoosam festival procession will occur on February 11 at 11 AM, and the Teppam festival will be held on February 12 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The flag lowering ceremony will take place on February 13 from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Considering the high number of devotees expected during the Thaipoosam festival, vehicles will not be permitted to reach the hill temple from February 4 to 8 and on February 13 and 14. From February 9 to 12, both two-wheelers and four-wheelers will be restricted.
Devotees can access the temple via the mountain steps or by buses arranged by the temple. The arrangements for the festival are being made by the temple trustee team, including Chairman S. Jayakumar, Deputy Chairman R. Senthilkumar, and Trustees V. Maheshkumar, P. Premkumar, A. Kanagarajan, and V. Sugantharaj Rajarathinam.
