Sarojini (72), a retired plantation worker from the Loyar Parai Estate near Walparai, was found dead under suspicious circumstances. She had been living alone in an estate bungalow after her husband’s death.
For the past few months, Sarojini had been staying with her son and daughter in Coimbatore. She returned to the estate last week to buy Pongal items using the family ration card.
However, on Saturday, she was found dead with severe head injuries at her bungalow. Upon receiving information from nearby residents, Walparai police rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem at the Coimbatore Government Hospital.
Police, with the help of a sniffer dog, have launched a search for the murderer and are currently conducting investigations in the area as of January 20.
