Tourism Minister R. Rajendran conducted an inspection on January 19, 2025, regarding the establishment of a boathouse at the Aliyar Dam in Pollachi.
The development plan for the Aliyar Dam includes a budget of ₹10 crore through the Public Works Department, which will cover park redevelopment, artificial water channels, children’s play equipment, the setting up of a boathouse, and arrangements for boat rides.
During his visit, the Minister also issued instructions to the concerned authorities regarding the essential facilities required for tourists. Subsequently, an inspection was carried out at the pond in the Godavadi Panchayat near Kinnathukadavu, Coimbatore district, to explore the feasibility of transforming it into a tourist spot by filling it with surplus water.
The inspection was attended by Pollachi MLA K. Eswarasamy, District Tourism Officer Jagadeeswari, DMK South District Secretary Thalapathy Murugesan, Public Works Department Executive Engineer Sivakumar, and Revenue Divisional Officer Govindan.
