A wild lone elephant near Navamalai, Anaimalai, chased and attacked an SUV, causing it to fall into a 10-foot ditch. Fortunately, the passengers escaped with minor injuries.
For the past few days, a lone elephant has been roaming the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve area, frequently spotted along the Azhiyar-Valparai road. This has left tourists traveling through the area in fear. Forest officials are actively monitoring the situation.
On the afternoon of January 23, Viswanathan, a junior engineer from the electricity board, was traveling to Upper Azhiyar with his colleagues Santhosh and Selvaraj after completing official work. While en route, a wild elephant charged toward their SUV and pushed it into a ditch.
As a result, the vehicle plunged into a 10-foot ditch. Miraculously, all three passengers escaped with minor injuries.
